Very Large Telescopes >12"

These amazing telescopes, often a Dobsonian, are the envy of everyone at a star party when they show up. These huge telescopes offer stunning views and are excellent for visual observing where very faint objects can be seen. They’re best suited for home setups and observatories, or equipped with their own trailer for transport. Some, however, are actually designed to be portable with their truss-tube designs. Some are also great for planetary photography, where the large aperture enables high-speed video imaging required for capturing extra detail on the planets. They also make photographing faint objects much easier, as less exposure time is needed.
