The Advanced VX (AVX) sets a standard in mid-level telescopes, providing many of the features found on Celestron’s most sophisticated German equatorial mounts at an extremely affordable price.

The Advanced VX 8” Newtonian telescope is an excellent entry- to mid-level setup that can grow with you. The Newtonian optical design is excellent for visual observing and offers you the largest aperture for the price. The parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a sharper image near the edge of the field of view. The 8” Newtonian optical tube offers 78% more light gathering ability than the 6” Newtonian optical tube.

The Advanced VX mount is designed to provide superior performance for smaller telescopes while taking advantage of Celestron’s most advanced technologies: All-Star Polar Alignment, Celestron PWI telescope control software, and permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC).

Bring out the best in your nebulae astroimages with the H-alpha H-beta OIII (Hα-Hβ-OIII) Imaging Filter for the 8” RASA. This specialized filter allows high transmission of light from emission nebulae while blocking light pollution, helping to make your images pop with detail off the black sky background with superior contrast.

Fortunately, many sources of light pollution have relatively discreet emission spectra; they emit primarily at specific wavelengths of light. By strategically blocking these “bad” wavelengths, the filter essentially eliminates the effect of light pollution while letting the “good” wavelengths of light associated with the emission nebula pass through to the camera. You’ll notice much higher contrast in your images immediately, even if imaging from your light polluted backyard! And since the transmission at the key wavelengths is so high, the nebula will not be dimmed—only the background will be blacker.

Combined with the aperture of 300mm and focal length of 1500mm, this scope is great for prime-focus photography. Higher quality images can be achieved with the optional coma corrector.
