Your NexStar SE Series telescope comes with a battery compartment for AA batteries, however, in our exprience using AA batteries to power your telescope leads to poor accuracy and poor tracking performance. It is important to provide a more reliable source of power to your computerised mount in order to get the best performance. This is especially important if you want to use your scope for astrophotography.
The Powertech Lithium Ion 155whr Portable Power Centre with LCD and the Sirius 2.1mm 12V DC Power Cable for Go-To Mount will provide your telescope mount with a constant and reliable source of power where AC power is not available.
The NexStar SE Series scopes only come with one 25mm Plossl eyepiece. We recommend getting at least one more of a higher magnification. This will help you with aligning your scope, and also let you view planets and other objects up close. Our Sirius 1.25in 66 Degree Long Eye Relief Eyepiece 9mm is a significant upgrade from standard Plossl eyepieces.
With a 9mm eyepiece, you can expect the following magnifications -
- 4SE: 147x
- 5SE: 139x
- 6SE: 167x
- 8SE: 226x
