Telescopes

The Explore Scientific Generation II 10-inch Truss Tube Dobsonian delivers impressive light-gathering power in a portable, tool-free design that breaks down easily for transport. With a precision 2-inch dual-speed focuser, oversized bearings for smooth tracking, and innovative tool-free collimation, this telescope is ideal for intermediate astronomers eager to explore deep sky objects, resolve star clusters, and reveal spiral galaxy structure in stunning detail.

Celestron has reinvented the Dobsonian telescope with StarSense Explorer—the first Dobsonian that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real-time.

Unleash the power of your smartphone to take you on a guided tour of the night

A sturdy, Dobsonian-style base with large diameter bearings and variable altitude tensioning makes it easy to follow the on-screen arrows on your smartphone to your desired target.

The Starsense telscope uses your smartphone as a navigation device only, not to take photos.

NOTE: to protect your scope optics from dust, spiders and other liittle pesky bugs in storage, we recommend the Pegasus 10" Dust cover for the bottom of your scope. (Product Number 126686)

• Flat-field free of optical aberrations like field curvature, coma, astigmatism and chromatic aberration across an entire APS-C sensor.
• Unlike the larger RASAs that work with DSLR and large CCD cameras, the 8” model was designed with color astronomical CMOS cameras, smaller CCD cameras, and mirrorless cameras in mind. The telescope does not work with standard DSLR cameras.
• Ultra-Stable Focus System – precision linear ball bearing virtually eliminates image shift.
• Internal filter mount – seamlessly accommodates a Light Pollution Imaging Filter into the optical path.
• Performs over a wider spectral range than most telescopes, from 400-800 nm, so more of the light passing through the astrograph is in sharp focus.
• The CGX, with its 55 lb load capacity, is Celestron’s most innovative, state-of-the art, computerized equatorial mount to date, and provides a very sturdy and rigid platform for the fully-loaded RASA 8.
• The drive system utilizes low cog DC Servo motors with integrated optical encoders, belt and pulley motor connection, spring-loaded steel worm gears supported by precision sealed bearings, and brass worm wheels for smooth, accurate slewing and tracking performance with little backlash.
