Give your scope a power boost! Our Shorty barlow doubles the power of any eyepiece it's used with. For about the price of a single eyepiece or less, this practical accessory effectively doubles the number of eyepieces at your disposal.
It gets its name from its compact size. The Shorty is just 3" long end to end-about half the length of a standard barlow lens. It's short 1.25"-diameter barrel is just 1.6" long, fitting easily in any 1.25" star diagonal, so it's great to use with refractors and Schmidt-Cassegrains. In fact, it works with any type of telescope.
The Shorty's 2x amplifier lens is an achromatic glass doublet that's multi-coated to ensure excellent light transmission. The machined and anodized aluminum housing is internally baffled to eliminate unwanted reflections and increase contrast. Barrel is threaded to acept filters.

Fully Baffled and Multi-Coated for Optimum Performance
A good barlow needs good optics, but good optics alone aren' t enough. Unlike many barlows, ours are internally baffled, rather than simply painted black inside, to block transmission of off-axis light. This baffling results in noticeably higher contrast when observing faint objects that are near bright stars or other sources of glare. It also helps reduce glare during daytime terrestrial observation.
Each has a multi-coated, two-element achromatic lens which doubles the power of any eyepiece. Black-anodized aluminum body with eyepiece setscrew. Made in Japan.

Extra Magnification for Higher-Power Viewing and Guiding
For those observing targets where you need more power than your eyepieces alone can provide, we offer the Tri-Mag. It gives a big 3x magnification boost to any 1.25" eyepiece it's used with. This is desirable for lunar and planetary observing and for extracting higher powers from "fast" telescopes such as f/5 and f/4 refractors and reflectors.
The Tri-Mag utilizes a multi-coated achromatic "negative" lens that effectively triples the focal length of the telescope's optics. The housing is precision machined from aluminum stock and black anodized to a hard finish. Both the housing and the chrome portion of the barrel are glare threaded and blackened inside to provide maximum contrast. The lens end of the barrel is threaded to accept standard filters.
