The 102mm diamter /F1300mm EQ1 Maksutov-Cassegrain
The Maksutov-Cassegrain is one of the two most popular Cassegrain telescopes in the world today that combines a front meniscus lens and two mirrors to deliver a longer focal length than a sister Schmidt Cassegrain telesope of the same diameter. With a longer focal length for the same aperture, this allows high magnification than other scopes of the same diamter and is ideally suited to planetary viewing.
The EQ1 Equatorial Mount
The EQ1 is a lightweight equatorial mount. An equatorial mount is able to compensate for Earth’s rotation by moving along only one axis.
This gives the observer a great advantage as it is only necessary to turn a single slow motion knob while you maually track an object across the sky.
