Quality and affordability are combined in the impressive new SAXON 8” Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, now available. The proven Maksutov optical system gives sharp, high-contrast images and a long focal length (2500mm) in a compact tube. Little, if any collimation is ever required, with the small secondary mirror being an aluminised spot on the inner surface of the thick corrector lens. This SAXON MAK is manufactured at the same facility as higher-priced, "name" Maksutovs of the same specification. Despite a considerable cost saving, the SAXON shares their optical accuracy, coatings, mechanical construction and quality control. The EQ5 "GO TO" mount is the latest version of the proven EQ5, and includes a dual-hemisphere illuminated polarscope for accurate alignment.
